MateBook X Pro: Huawei’s award-winning flagship notebook launches in South Africa

Huawei is building a fully-connected, intelligent world that knows no bounds. The company is now expanding its range by launching its flagship notebook, the MateBook X Pro, in South Africa.

With the MateBook X Pro, Huawei combines innovation and intelligence with an aesthetically-pleasing design, resulting in a stylish yet functional and sturdy device.

Wang Yinfeng, President of PC and Tablet Product Line, Huawei Consumer BG, said the MateBook X Pro “epitomises Huawei’s signature design and craftsmanship”. Yinfeng explains:

“The premium aesthetics, innovative technology and intelligence are engrained in the DNA of the MateBook X Pro Series, and the latest iteration exemplifies that heritage. It is our most powerful, portable and intelligent all-purpose device yet”.

Introducing the Huawei Matebook X Pro

It has everything a working professional, content creator or digital nomad could need. Its lightweight portability makes it perfect for day-to-day life; whether at the office or on the road.

According to Huawei, the latest flagship notebook is “made for jet-setting business users and professional content creators, power users that pursue, or demand, a high quality of life”.

Huawei Matebook X Pro has a series of wins in its corner. Tech Advisor named it Best of 2020 and the Recommended 2020 device. It also won Stuff’s Mobile Awards 2020, and walked off with the Recommended 2020 badge from Trusted Reviews.

Design and display

The 12-inch MateBook X Pro has an elegant ultra-slim metal uni-body that weighs only 1.33 kilograms. As for dimensions, the MateBook X Pro clocks in at 14.6mm by 304mm by 217mm.

The super-thin bezels on all sides mean that you get an impressive Ultra FullView display with 91% screen-to-body ratio. Thinner bezels also provide for a richer video experience.

Whether you’re viewing an image or watching a Blu-Ray video, the notebook also delivers a 3K experience, thanks to its 3 000 x 2 000 resolution, a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and 260ppi (pixels per inch).

The MateBook X Pro features a large clickpad and full-size high-performance backlit keyboard. Moreover, it is spill-proof and able to withstand whatever life throws at you. According to Tech Advisor’s Dominic Preston:

“The keyboard feels spacious and comfortable, with a shallow but satisfying travel and just the right balance of clicky-to-sticky. It is also one of the better keyboards around, as is the capacious trackpad beneath it”.

Performance and battery

The Huawei MateBook X Pro is powered by a cutting-edge 10th Gen Intel Core processor. Additionally, it also includes an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card to deliver a smooth gaming and video-editing experience.

It also has a high-speed PCIe SSD (peripheral component interconnect express solid-state drive) so you can “freely express your creativity, unbound by technical bottlenecks”.

The 56Wh battery won’t let you down either. You can watch videos on the MateBook X Pro for up to 13 hours, work regularly for 15 hours or browse the internet for up to 11 hours.

Furthermore, the 65W power adapter is compatible with some Huawei SuperCharge phones. These include the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30, the Huawei P30 Pro, Mate X, Nova 5, and Nova 5 Pro.

Huawei warns that the “actual charging performance may vary with the phone system”, and adds that a compatible phone should be updated to the “latest version to get the best charging experience”.

Matebook X Pro availability in South Africa

The notebook comes in three colours – Emerald Green, Space Gray and Mystic Silver – and will be available online and in selected stores from today, 16 November 2020.

In addition, a variety of accessories will be available for the MateBook X Pro; including the MateDock 2, a Bluetooth Mouse, leather case and sleeve, Huawei-branded backpack, and a USB 3.0 A/M-to-RJ45 conversion cable.

“Laptops in the future will be more intelligent, more efficient, and more connected. Huawei is helping to drive the future with new innovations; which caters for all scenarios and delivers an interactive experience that seamlessly incorporates your laptop and your phone”.
