Just In: Shudufhadzo Musida crowned Miss South Africa 2020

The wait is finally over. Our new Miss South Africa 2020 is Shudufhadzo Musida. The announcement came live directly from the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town on Saturday evening 24 October 2020. 

The Top 10 Miss SA finalists were Aphelele Mbiyo, Busisiwe Mmotla, Chantelle Pretorius, Jordan van der Vyver, Karishma Ramdev, Lebogang Mahlangu, Melissa Nayimuli, Natasha Joubert, Shudufhadzo Musida and Thato Mosehle.


Shudufhadzo Musida, 24, comes from Ha-Masia in Limpopo and has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pretoria. She is currently doing her BA Honours in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand. Musida made it to the Top 5 along with four others and then to the Top 3 before being crowned.

During the question and answer session, Shudufhadzo Musida spoke about her care and passion for mental health and wellbeing.

Following the announcement of the Top 3 finalists, Joubert was announced as the second runner up, Mosehle was announced as the runner up and Musida, the winner.


Miss South Africa 2020 was judged by an all-female judging line-up including some of the country’s most respected and influential personalities. They were reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi; business dynamo and previous Miss South Africa title holder (1996) Peggy-Sue Khumalo; multi-award-winning, radio and TV presenter Anele Mdoda; actress, presenter, motivational speaker, author and entrepreneur Leandie du Randt, as well as, actress Kim Engelbrecht.

Now Miss South Africa 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida, will take home a package of prizes and sponsorships in excess of R3 million. She will receive R1 million in cash from the Miss South Africa Organisation, as well as, the use of a fully furnished and serviced apartment at luxurious Central Square with fabulous interior décor by Enza Home and a Mercedes Benz C200 Cabriolet for the year of her reign.

CEO of the Miss South Africa Organisation Stephanie Weil prior to the announcement said; “We have whittled these finalists down from literally thousands of entrants and we honestly believe we have found the 10 women who, right now, represent everything Miss South Africa stands for.”

“Any one of these girls could be crowned the winner but only one will take the crown from her predecessor Sasha Lee Olivier, so we can look forward to a very exciting pageant where our judges are going to have the extremely difficult task of choosing Miss South Africa 2020,” she added.
