JOHANNESBURG – Seven people linked to the controversial Free State Asbestos Project will appear in court on Friday.
The last suspect handed himself over to the police on Thursday.
The South African Communist Party has welcomed the arrests.
The party believes it marks the beginning of an era of accountability but it still feels the tender system should be rolled back as it’s flawed.
The organisation also said arrests must be followed by successful prosecutions, severe prison sentences, and asset seizures.
